Believe it or not, it is possible. Dogs have been getting new hips for years to treat aging arthritis, degenerative joint disease, chronic hip luxations, fractures, and any other disease that can destroy the normal integrity of the canine hip joint.
Dr Mayo recently attending several two day courses and demonstration of a new total hip replacement for the dog. This procedure will be available in late October at limited clinics with patients needing THR treatment.
Dr Mayo will perform the procedure in other veterinary clinics on a limited basis. It is important that a clinic be sterile, and have a large operating room to perform the procedure. Veterinarians or owners interested in more information, please feel free to call or email Dr Mayo at the office number, 425-608-2614. Alternatively, this procedure can also be taught on cadaver specimens.
