In early June 2009, I had the honor to travel to Varna, Bulgaria. My objective was to teach some new surgical procedures (some of which might be old to us) to local veterinarians at a convention being held there. Varna is on the coast of the Black Sea. When you think of some of the conventions we attend in the USA, where there are sometimes over 1,000 vendor boothes to see, they had about 10 here. I lectured the first day on the lateral suture procedure (with some modifications), then took the participants through a laboratory that afternoon. At the end of the day, we demonstrated the tibial tuberosity advancement. The next day, we went to a local clinic and demonstrated the TTA on a live patient, probably the first one ever to be performed in Bulgaria.
